about

This is the recording of the visit that started it all.
It was a day of May 2016 when, just after having payed visit to the Serpentine Galleries, I then visited the Tate Modern in London.
I had my audio recorder with me and I started using it when i realized that I was feeling in a state of suspension in time and space.
Being in an Art Museum, surrounded by work of arts expressing different emergencies was making me feeling as I was in a non-place.
I wanted to record the sound of the environment in which this sensation was emerging, so I started recording while walking around.
Passing through one of the corridors I heard a sound of a piano coming out from a dark room on my right.
I entered into it. "Memories from a Square", a video installation by Gulsun Karamustafa was playing on the double screen immersed in the dark.
I was enchanted by the poetry of the artwork.
A delicate and strong counterpoint between the IN and the OUT, between the private and the public.
Between the bravery of the outside and the fragility of the inside.
The emergency of the action and the humility of the passivity.
Everything was in there.
I first listened to the resulting recording when back at home and I realised much more than just a memory was caught in the audio.
It was spontaneous for me to pick up my guitar and start playing with it, just like getting in connection, recreating the feeling of being present in that abstract sensation of being in a non-space.
From that moment I started to record all my visits to Art Museums and the idea of this private investigation started to take form.
